India Warned Srilanka in Advance About The Bomb BlastsA series of Bomb Blasts rocked Sri Lanka’s Capital, Colombo killing 359 people so far and injuring over 500. The country has called for an emergency following the Blasts and is gripping in fear since then. Srilanka Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe revealed that India had shared intelligence inputs about the Bomb Blasts.

“India gave us the intelligence but there has been a lapse on how we acted on that… intelligence was not conveyed down the line,” Ranil Wickremesinghe said. ISIS claimed responsibility for these blasts saying that the suicide bombers were “fighters of the Islamic State”. But it did not provide any evidence of its involvement.

It is a tragedy that the authorities could do very little even with the Prior information. Sri Lanka had earlier named a local Islamist group, National Thowheeth Jama’ath, as the chief suspect. These Bomb Blasts sent shockwaves through the island state that has been relatively peaceful since a civil war ended a decade ago.
