Health Ministry has confirmed its first case of novel coronavirus infection. A student who came back from Kerala from China’s Wuhan tested positive for the infection. The female student is studying in Wuhan University and is now in isolation in the hospital.
She is said to be stable and is being closely monitored. Both the State and Central Governments are on their toes and are taking measures to curb the spread of the virus. All the states are on high alert after the detection of the first case in the country. Isolation wards ready in all hospitals and medical colleges in the states.
All the flights from China are being closely monitored and the passengers coming from there are being screened. Coronavirus originated in Wuhan, a Chinese city of more than 11 million people, and has since then spread to various countries around the world.
As many as 170 people have died of the virus, while over 1700 cases have been registered in China alone. On the other side, Opposition Leader Chandrababu Naidu wrote to External Affairs Minister, Jaishankar requesting him to initiate the rescue of 58 Telugu students stranded at Wuhan.
