Union Minster of Urban Development Venkaiah Naidu informed media that increase of constituencies in AP and Telangana is under consideration. In this regard, a proposal from Union Home Ministry to Ministry of Law &Justice will be forwarded in two to three days.
After review Law ministry will send the same to Attorney General which he in turn recommend to Home ministry. This shall be followed by change in the reorganization act which needs to be passed in both the houses. There is no special laws to be amended for this proposed change.
Currently, there is proposal to increase the constituencies from existing 175 to 225 in AP and 113 to 153 in AP and Telangana respectively.
