If a report published in Deccan Chronicle is to be believed, the Union Government is contemplating to make Hyderabad as a Union Territory. The Central Government is keen to stop the radicalization of Muslim Youth and recently dissolved the Jammu and Kashmir State to two Union Territories.
They may do the same with Hyderabad as well as there is a considerable Muslim Radicalisation in the Old City of the Telangana Capital. This will mean a check to MIM Party. There is also a Political Reason behind this move. This will counter TRS and bring Telangana to BJP’s fold.
Thanks to Hyderabad being a cash cow, TRS is able to dole out several Welfare Schemes which ensured the Pink Party to win the State Twice. If Hyderabad goes to the Central Government, Telangana pretty much becomes a backward state and BJP penetration becomes easy at that point.
Making Hyderabad a Union Territory was a demand during the Bifurcation days, but it is the voice of a very small minority which ultimately got stifled. At this point of time, the possibility of that happening may not be easy and the move will not get unanimous support like in the case of Jammu and Kashmir.
