While the Telangana government saying they will make Hyderabad a global city, on the other side, the issue of substandard roads in Hyderabad remains the same.
Yesterday at Safilguda near Malkajgiri, a road split apart suddenly where two two-wheelers fell in the crevice and the travelers were injured. Victims were taken to hospital by the bystanders.
The rationale behind this incident is that Greater Hyderabad Municipal corporation has overlooked the quality of ground and built the road on where in the past, water board team dug up a pothole to conduct certain repairs and covered it up with loose sand.
This isn’t the first time for such happenings on Hyderabad roads. Especially, this winter witnessed quite a few. These incidents of cleavages on roads also have occurred earlier at NTR Marg near Secretariat, Panjagutta, and King Koti .
An official from Engineering department of GHMC states that these incidents happen due to the poor quality of roads and sewage works. Also, a GHMC representative addressed the issue stating that vendors do not restore the ground properly after the cable works, etc which is leading to the cleavage of the road.
