Hyderabad Metro Rail to Burn Hole in the Pockets of CommutersHyderabad Metro Rail Project First Phase will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 28th. The Project Developer, L&T and the Government of Telangana will finalize the fares early the next month. In April 2011, the price band was fixed at Rs 8 to Rs 19.

In March last year, the government told that the price band would be Rs 13 to Rs 25 as per existing market costs. The prices are going to increase further as the costs shot up due to the delay in completing the project.

There are indications that the price band could be increased to Rs 20 to Rs 50. The company is planning to pass on the burden to the end users since the government is refusing to bear the burden of the increased expenses due to the project delay.
