Hyderabad-e-challan-trafficTraffic offenders in Hyderabad and Cyberabad limits are taking the advantage of the e-challans and slipping away with out paying the fines. While the on-spot challans are 99% paid, the e-challans generated are only 40% paid indicating the advantage they give to escaping offenders.

In 2014, Hyderabad police issued 14.75 lakh on spot and 15.71 lakh e-challans while their Cyberabad counterparts issued 7 lakh and 1.13 lakh respectively. However there are about 45 lakh unpaid e-challans in Hyderabad and 35.59 lakh e-challans in Cyberabad at present.

Hyderabad and Cyberabad police have now decided to prosecute offenders by sending legal notices and also seize their vehicles in case of non-payment. Already a list top traffic offenders to be prosecuted in prepared and they are being sent the final notices.
