The number of students indulging in Chain Snatching is increasing in Hyderabad. According to the police records, a whopping 25% of the chain snatchers arrested are students. Most of them were continuing studies while others are dropouts. Interestingly, most of them are from rich families indulging in the shameless act for easy bucks.
These students are either addicted to luxuries or get carried away by the lifestyles of their friends. Since they can not approach their families to fund big amounts, they resort to chain snatching which is an easy offence that can yield big money. Parents in their busy lives tend to ignore what their children are doing and then such things happen.
Out of the total chain snatchers caught in Hyderabad, 25 percent were engineering graduates, 25 percent degree students, 20 percent had completed intermediate or are dropouts from graduation, around 20 per cent have completed SSC and are working in odd jobs. This is a seriously disappointing and alarming trend.
