Hyderabad Airport Overtakes Mumbai and Delhi AirportsHyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) has topped the list of airports in the country in terms of Growth more than the airports of Mumbai and Delhi. In the first half of this fiscal, RGIA clocked a massive 18% growth during that period in comparison to the corresponding period last year.

In October 2017 the airport saw passenger footfall of over 1.5 million — the highest monthly traffic since its inception in 2008. The Airport is expected to register even big numbers in December and January due to the arrival of NRIs from the USA during their winter break.

This is revealed in a survey conducted by CAPA – Center for Aviation. The airport needs to expand its facility to 55 million capacity as it is expected to reach the point of saturation over the next decade. There is also an impending need to connect the Airport with Metro Rail Project.
