Hyderabad-garbage-problemOnly recently Hyderabad made its citizens proud to be living in the city which is branded as the best city to live in, amongst the 15 big cities of the country. The same Hyderabad is stinking today because of the ongoing strike of the sanitation workers of GHMC demanding pay hike.

While there is unbearable stench everywhere because of piles of garbages all around the city and overflowing naalas, the Swachh Bharat Ambassadors who were nominated by the Prime Minister himself where nowhere to be seen. Whether it is the politicians, industrialists or the cine celebrities; no one is responding when it is need of the hour.

It is already 9th day strike and in Hyderabad it’s festival season. But the CM instead of sorting out the issue served an ultimatum that they would be replaced if they don’t attend to duties by Monday evening. Today is Tuesday, but the employees are in no mood to budge.

For Swachh Bharat ambassadors, the campaign has become just a photo session like programme to gain some limelight. For the Chief Minister, Swachh Hyderabad shattered dreams seem to make no difference. It’s the people who are suffering with the unbearable stench and this rainy season, the fear of breaking an epidemic is gripping the people of Hyd. Let’s hope that the issue will be sorted out soon.
