Yesterday was a bad day for India at the All England Open Badminton Championships as both its challengers lost to their opponents in the Quarter Final matches. Indeed, PV Sindhu and Saina Nehwal both lost their respective matches against Tai Tzu Ying of Chinese Taipei and Sung Ji Hyun of Korea.

Sindhu who is presently the World No 6 stood against the World no. 1 Ying. Interestingly, she had beaten Tai Tzu on her way to the Olympics Silver but this time her play seemed to be a little erratic and she couldn’t beat the strong defense of her opponent. She went down with scores of 14-21, 10-21 in 34 minutes.

Meanwhile Saina Nehwal put up a strong show of defense but ultimately lost to World No 3 Hyun with scores of 20-22, 20-22 in 53 minutes.
