No More Ads of Betting WebsitesMany Bollywood and cricket superstars have been endorsing betting websites and apps. They have been paid a huge amount of money to endorse these not-so-good-for-the-society apps.

Bollywood Baadshah Shah Rukh Khan endorses the A23 platform and promotes responsible gambling habits where users can bet money and play games like rummy, fantasy sports, carom, and billiards.

MS Dhoni is the brand ambassador of Pokerstars and similarly, Virat Kohli promotes Mobile Premiere League along with Tamannaah Bhatia.

All these stars might have to lose a huge chunk of their revenue as the I&B ministry has passed orders that news websites, TV channels, and OTT platforms should refrain from telecasting ads of online betting platforms. It added that failure to do so can invite severe penal action.

The central ministry reiterated that since gambling and betting are illegal in most parts of the country, ads for online offshore betting and gambling platforms are also illegal.

Because of this new rule, these betting apps and websites will lose their visibility, so they might stop paying these superstars huge amounts of money.

When the visibility is reduced, the online platforms may feel there’s no point in engaging these Bollywood and cricket stars at such astronomical fees.

This could turn out to be a big blow to all the stars who earn huge revenues from the endorsement of such betting apps and websites.
