Many of you may or may not know but there is a cap on the amount to be spent in the elections for every candidate. It is mandatory to be well in the limit and expenses to be shown to the Election Commission. But after we see how money is spent in the elections, as we go through the expenses submitted to EC, we just came to know that it is the mockery of the entire system.

-> Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandra Babu has declared that his total election expenditure was Rs 20.89 lakh with not a rupee spent against usage of helicopter. Even though he traveled length and breadth of the state in the chopper.

-> Telangana Chief Minister K Chandra Sekhar Rao’s expense is just Rs 46 lakh expenditure for campaigning in Gajwel Assembly and Medak Lok Sabha constituencies, which included using a helicopter at just Rs 3.75 lakh throughout the campaign. But KCR was rarely seen traveling through any means except a helicopter.

-> YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, the opposition leader in AP just spent 7.5 Lakhs for the expense towards Pulivendhula campaign and other costs.

The maximum limit a candidate contesting Parliament is Rs 70 lakh while an Assembly contestant can spend up to Rs 28 lakh. As per the official declaration, Assembly contestants in the United states just spent Rs 125-140 crore as election expenses with an average of Rs 43 lakh per constituency in the 294-member House.
