The Loan Waiver scheme of the state government is sending chill in the spines of several fraudsters across the state. Government has put in the entire loan waiver scheme details online and is also sending a statement of loan waiver to the beneficiaries. With this transparency methods, several irregularities were unearthed in which loans were taken by others on farmers’ names with out their knowledge.
Few Bank officials have aided this fraudsters and there are massive irregularities of such were reported in Vizianagaram, Kadapa and Srikakulam. During 2008 Loan Waiver in Congress regime, there is no such source of beneficiaries data. The data is only available with the banks. The fraudsters were in touch with their ‘staff’ in the banks and enjoyed the benefits of loan waiver.
According to the data available with the state government, such frauds will amount more than 1000 Crore. Government is planning to unleash CBCID on these fraudsters and recover the losses. Government may also file cheating cases on bank officials who aided them by taking extra copies of required documents from farmers and helping fraudsters with those.
