For Telugu people Lagadapati is well known as a businessman turned politician. But for people of our Nation, he is some one who popularised the idea of using pepper spray for self defense. The whole pepper spray stunt was blown out of proportion and Lagadapati was shown in different light. One cannot say for sure whether he garnered popularity or thoughtlessly became unpopular.
Coming to the point, Lagadapati’s pepper spray idea found application in Bihar Police strategy. To disperse mobs, the police had been using tear gas and water canons since many years. But Bihar Police bought pepper bullets and pepper guns to minimise casualties while dispersing the uncontrollable mobs. Anti Riot Rapid Action Force of the State has sent a proposal to the Union government regarding investing to buy 150 sets of pepper and pellet guns (to shoot rubber bullets).
