In what can be termed as a crucial development in the middle of the General Elections, Ministry of Home Affairs had issued a notice to Congress President Rahul Gandhi over his Citizenship citing a British Company Documents. MHA asked Rahul Gandhi to respond to the notice in 15 days.
This notice is based on a Complaint by BJP Rajya Sabha MP Subrahmaniam Swamy. Similar objections were raised earlier this month by Dhruv Lal, an independent candidate contesting from the Amethi Lok Sabha seat. However, Returning Officer (RO) of Amethi Ram Manohar Misra declared that the Congress president’s nomination papers were valid.
Political Experts say this is one more ploy of the BJP to trouble Congress in this crucial election. The Saffron Party is doing all that it can to come back to Power. On the other hand, four out of the total seven phases of the General Elections were complete. The last Phase Voting will happen on May 19th and the results will be out on May 23rd.
