Osmania Hospital

The historic Osmania Hospital may be shifted to Chanchalguda. The hospital which has a big history is currently treating 1000s of people per day with 1800 beds and there is an acute need of increasing the hospital capacity. Osmania Hospital used to have 30 acres land but due to various encroachments only 8 acres remained now. Government planned to build a new 8 storied building besides the existing heritage building to extend the hospital. However rules do not agree to build building greater than that of heritage building height.

So the government is planning to shift the hospital to Chanchalguda jail area. Government wants to use some or all parts of the jail for building the hospital. The existing hospital will be converted to a museum and preserved. The prisoners in the Chanchalguda jail may be shifted to Cherlapally jail or Warangal jail as per the requirement. The new hospital will be spread over 60 acres land in various blocks with hospital, medical college nursing college, hostels, being in the same compound.
