Hindi Imposition In Tirumala: Devotees FumingTirumala Sri Venkateswara Swamy Vaari temple is one of the most renowned Hindu shrines in the world. Every year, around 30 to 40 million devotees visit the temple.

Coming to the topic, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam Board, the governing council of Tirumala temple has taken a controversial decision that is leaving devotees fuming.

TTD executive chairman Jawahar Reddy announced that the attenders who serve in rest rooms at Tirumala hill shrine will be called ‘Bhakta Sahayaks’ from now on.

Bhakta Sahayaks is a Hindi word. Now, devotees and netizens are finding fault with the decision to give Hindi touch to an integral human assistance service in Tirumala.

“Tirumala is one of the major attractions of Southern India. How can the TTD pick a Hindi phrase for one of its key services in Tirumala? They could have instead named it Tiru Sevakulu,” netizens opine.

It remains to be seen if the TTD board will track back on the decision and rename the service.
