High Tension @ Secunderabad Rly Station, Police Fire In AirHyderabad had witnessed some unprecedented scenes on Friday. Protests broke out at Secunderabad Railway Station against Central Government’s Agnipath army recruitment process.

Bogies of five trains which are in the station were torched. Parcels of luggage were placed on the rails and burned.

Shops, other stalls, and display boards at the railway station were destroyed. The protesters demanded that the Agnipath be canceled and that military selection continues as usual.

Some RTC buses outside the station were also destroyed. Police rushed to the scene and tried to contain the fire.

A whopping loss of 20 Crore is being estimated initially.

After failing to control the agitators, police fired tear gas and also fired bullets into the air. A few rioters are said to be injured and critical in hospital.

Police have closed all roads leading to the Secunderabad station.

Barricades were erected across the roads leading to the Secunderabad railway station from all over the city. Every vehicle is being checked by the police.

Several trains were canceled and a few were diverted for today. MMTS services were also canceled.

This is the first-ever law and order issue in Telangana after the state bifurcation.
