Jagan AP High CourtAndhra Pradesh Government has made it a habit to get rapped by the courts. The latest is by Andhra Pradesh High Court. The Court had issued a stay on the G.O. brought up by the State Government to give the lands from the Capital to the landless poor.

The State Government had brought a G.O. to distribute 1251 acres from the land pooled from the farmers. They have identified 54,307 beneficiaries as well. According to the CRDA Act, 10% of the pooled lands should be allocated to the landless poor. The Government brought up the clause and decided to use the lands.

The farmers suspect that once the lands are given to the poor, they can not be taken back. Then, the Government may drop Amaravati development as a whole citing the reason. Amaravati farmers approached the Court saying that the Government had stopped the development of lands and can not use their lands for welfare schemes when the issue is in legal tangles.

They also brought to the notice of the court that the Government can not use the provision in the act while it is moving to repeal the act. Agreeing with the farmers, the Andhra Pradesh High Court slashed the G.O. and asked the Government to maintain status-quo on this issue.
