High Court Of Andhra PradeshAndhra Pradesh High Court has canceled the MPTC and ZPTC Elections which were supposed to happen on the 8th of this month. TDP, BJP, and Janasena have approached the court alleging that the State Election Commissioner had not followed the rules.

The court agreed with them that there should be at least four weeks of Model Code of Conduct before any election, according to a previous judgment of the Supreme Court. So, the court stalled the election process. The Election Commission should now give a fresh date for the election with four weeks of the Model Code of Conduct.

In such a case, the election may happen next month unless the Government goes for an appeal and gets relief. The State Election Commissioner, Neelam Sawhney hurriedly announced the election schedule right on the first day of her office.

TDP has alleged that she is under the pressure of the Government to immediately hold the election and finally, this judgment means there is a truth in their allegation.
