High court of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana stateHyderabad High Court has ordered the Andhra Pradesh Government to conduct Panchayat Elections in the state in the next three months. Some of the former Sarpanches have approached the court against GO 90 which allows the appointment of Special Officers in Panchayats where their term expired.

They argued in the court that such appointments are unconstitutional and the High court should squash the G.O. But the court has allowed the appointments until the elections are complete in the next three months according to the order. Earlier the court has given similar orders for Telangana Government as well.

But in Telangana, the Assembly Elections will be held prior to the Panchayat Elections as KCR dissolved the Assembly in advance. If elections are conducted in AP as per the court order, the results will reflect the mood of the people ahead of the 2019 Assembly Elections.
