Hyderabad High Court has admitted the petition of Rajya Sabha MP, KVP Ramachandra Rao over Polavaram Project and the court has instructed the Central Government to file an affidavit about its view on the Project funding.
KVP alleged that the Center is trying to abdicate responsibility for the Polavaram project and sought a direction to see that the entire expenditure is borne by Delhi. KVP argued that Center cannot say it will only fund the project up to the prevailing rates of 2014 and should bear all the expenses until the project is completed.
He also sought an interim direction for release of 3800 crores, AP Government spent so far towards expenses already incurred by it for the construction of the project. With the issue reaching court, it has to be seen how the Center responds.
