High Court Delivers Another Blow on Jagan Govt's Key PolicyAndhra Pradesh Government has got another blow from the High Court. The State Apex Court had struck down the G.O. Numbers 81 and 85 brought up by the state government mandating English Medium in all the Government schools across the state.

“It will be the choice of the students and their parents to decide which medium they will pursue. It is not right on the part of the government to force English media on them,” the court opined. The counsel representing the Government argued that the decision is taken for the future of the students.

The petitions against the English medium were filed by BJP leader Sudheesh Rambhotla and a Professor, Guntupalli Srinivas. On the other side, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is keen on implementing the decision for the next academic year itself. Accordingly, the Government is planning to knock the door of the Supreme Court on this issue.

The government planned to introduce the English medium from the next academic year in Government schools from the first standard to the sixth initially. Then on, in the next four years, one more class will be covered right up to SSC every year. The Government targeted English medium in all the cases in next four years.
