High-Court-Bifurcation-is-Now-CompletePresident Ramnath Kovind earlier today issued an official notification setting up Andhra Pradesh High Court at Amaravati which means the Bifurcation of Hyderabad High Court is complete. The Separate High Courts for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana will begin functioning from January 1st, 2019.

The Interim High Court Buildings in Amaravati are yet to be ready and so Andhra Pradesh high court may function from Hyderabad for some time. According to the rules, the high court has to be shifted to Amaravati three months from the date of notification. It has been a long-pending demand of Telangana to have its own high court.

The Gazette Notification has come on the day when Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao met Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier today in Delhi. The Existing Judges were divided 10 to Telangana and 16 to Andhra Pradesh. Uttarakhand High Court Chief Judge Ramesh Ranganathan is appointed as the Chief Judge for Andhra Pradesh High Court.
