The liquor sales of the state for this month have fallen by about 55% till date in this month. Traders and excise officials attribute the dip to commuting problems as roads are flooded and badly damaged.

The income through sales of liquor to the excise department till 22nd of this month is 287.7 Crore while revenue collected in September last year was Rs 418 crore. For September this year, the budget estimation is pegged at 637.96 Crore. The revenue collection through liquor sales has recorded a healthy 20 percent on an average per month till August end.

The excise department so far collected 2,044 crores as revenue until August end this year against the overall target of 4318 Crore for the current 2016-17 fiscal year. This was against Rs 1704 crore collected between April and August last year. The exact data of the loss of income this month will be available by the first week of October.
