At least 15 tiny tots, who braved the long isolation phase at Gandhi Hospital’s pediatric ward have recovered and were discharged today. They have tested negative in two consecutive tests and among them is a 37-day-old baby from Mahbubnagar who happens to be the youngest Coronavirus survivor from the State.
This is a special recovery because they went through a really tough time in isolation. In some cases, parents and their children who tested positive for coronavirus were allotted a separate room in the hospital. In a few cases where only the child tested positive, they were isolated in the pediatric ward which is on the hospital’s sixth floor.
A separate ward is also allotted for children if they test negative while both parents have the infection. Very young children were looked after by their parents even if the latter were tested positive. All these children are less than 12 years old. There are ten more children in isolation and will be discharged soon.
Meanwhile, the number of cases in Telangana is inching towards the 1000 mark. According to the Medical Bulletin released last night, there are 928 cases in the state.
