Green Tribunal Incurs 100 Crore Loss Per Day to TelanganaTelangana Government has approached Hyderabad High Court on the stay of National Green Tribunal on Kaleshwaram Project works. The state government alleged that due to the stay, human resources and machinery are being kept idle and as a result incurring 100 Crore loss per day.

The government also brought to the notice of the court that the tunnels work cannot be stopped midway as water will enter them and will damage them beyond repair. Telangana government alleged that Green Tribunal issued stay on a mala fide petition.

This Project will bring 225 TMCs of water into usage and is likely to benefit 1581 villages in Seven districts of Telangana. It will irrigate 738851 hectares in Khariff every year and 222647 acres in Rabi season. The project will cost approximately 80500 Crore according to the project DPR. Besides this, the project will involve 4067 Crore Power costs every year and another 110.82 Crore for annual maintenance costs.
