Reports are emerging from National Media that NDA Government seems to be mulling SC/ST quota in private sector in the wake of the upcoming General Elections. Sources that the Prime Minister’s Office has sought data on SC/ST representation in the private sector by December 2018.
Basing on the data, the government may begin work on the Reservations in the Private Sector. However, it is said that many companies in the Private Sector reportedly told the Government that they do no collect such data as of now and are also not willing to share even if any with the Government.
Government is also mulling the possibility of making it mandatory to collect such data from the employees by all the companies. This seems to be an election plank to attract such classes towards the BJP. Earlier last week, Supreme Court has thwarted the Government’s efforts to implement Reservations in Government Job Promotions.
