There are allegations by a section of people and the opposition about religious conversions becoming rampant in Andhra Pradesh ever since the new Government has come to power. K Nagaraja, National President of SC/ST Rights Forum complained about the same to the National Commission for Scheduled Castes.
The National SC Commission has ordered a full inquiry into the allegations of large-scale conversion of backward classes of Andhra Pradesh into Christianity. The Commission has asked the Chief Secretary to send a comprehensive report within fifteen days after the receipt of the notice (dated July 19th).
National Commission for Scheduled Castes is a constitutional body set up under Article 338 of the Constitution of India. The notice says in case the commission does not receive a reply within the time, it can exercise the powers of a commission to issue a summons for the Chief Secretary’s appearance in person or by a representative before the commission.
Let us see how Andhra Pradesh Government responds to this notice and allegation!
