narasimhan-and-modiIf the buzz emerging from Lutyens media is to be believed, Governor of both the Telugu States, ESL Narasimhan offered to step down in his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Governor off late has come under severe criticism for not being proactive in issues arising between AP and Telangana post the bifurcation. Even the central government also endorses the same view.

A section of media also projects Narasimhan as acting in favour of Telangana and doing very less to protect AP’s interest. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and other ministers also expressed their disappointment on Narasimhan on quite a few occasions.

Amid all this and the ongoing crisis due to Cash for Vote and phone tapping issues, Narasimhan offered to resign. However it is said that Modi refused to accept it and asked him to work to solve the controversies in Hyderabad. Modi also mentioned to him NDA government chose to continue with him despite being a UPA appointed Governor to deal with the bifurcation issues efficiently. We will have to see how the Governor proceeds in future!
