The other day, Rajya Sabha has voted in favor of repealing Article 370 and Article 35A which brings Jammu and Kashmir under Indian Constitution. Lok Sabha is currently discussing the bill. After the abrogation of the Article, Jammu and Kashmir will be union territories with legislature and Ladakh to be union territory without legislature.
On the other side, rumors are that Telangana Governor ESL Narasimhan may be appointed as the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh. Narasimhan is a former IPS officer and is also very close to National Security Adviser, Ajith Doval. Narasimhan previously worked as Intelligence Bureau chief and in other capacities in the Ministry of Home Affairs.
He worked in the dreaded Maoist regions like Chhattisgarh and also has a fair understanding of the issues what will emerge after Bifurcation and similar situations. So, the Modi government is of the opinion that he is the apt person for the role. This will be really big news if it is done because Narasimhan is a UPA appointee Governor.
