Search Engine Giant, Google had tendered an apology to Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi for displaying his picture for the search query ‘Top 10 Criminals in the world’. There was huge outcry in social media regarding this.
Google Spokesperson issued a statement, ” Search results trouble us some times but they do not reflect opinions of us at Google. Sometimes, the image descriptions can lead to surprising results like this one to specific queries. We apologize for any confusion or misunderstanding this has caused. We will continue to work for the betterment of our algorithms to prevent unexpected results like this”.
According to the experts, Modi’s image appeared for the search query after the Google algorithms picked his picture from news articles with images of Modi, which have the prime minister’s statements with regard to politicians with criminal backgrounds. Even though Modi’s image is shown there none of the articles link Modi to criminal activity. Only the words have picked up his image.
