Congress party is resorting to the sentimental issues to regain power back in Telangana. The Congress top brass is touring the state extensively to campaign for the party. Many surveys do believe that things are going neck to neck between TRS and Congress. To counter TRS, Congress has taken the ‘Dalit CM’ card which was left out by TRS once the separate statehood is achieved. KCR used the Dalit CM card extensively during the movement but became silent on it once the state is achieved. Congress had been keeping the issue fresh in the minds of the people.
On the other side, in his recent Public meeting, Rahul Gandhi hinted about having a woman as Chief Minister for Telangana. If one zeroes it down to Dalit and Women, Geeta Reddy seems to be an obvious choice. Geeta Reddy is contesting for Zaheerabad in Medak district and her main rival in the constituency is Manik Rao of the TRS as the TDP-BJP alliance candidate Y Narotham is yet to make his presence felt.
