Finally, TTD Exempted from GSTCentral Government has finally decided to exempt the Temples and Trusts which serve Free Food from GST. The GST paid by TTD for the procurement of Raw Material for Annadanam will be reimbursed by the Central Government.

The Central Government is allocating a fund of 325 Crore for this purpose. Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam and the Golden Temple in Amritsar are going to be the biggest beneficiaries of this decision. The GST paid so far will also be returned.

TTD is procuring Raw Material worth 96 Crore every year and is likely to get 4 to 5 Crore back with this decision. GST is already exempted from the Prasadam in Temples. Earlier there were reports that the exemption will be given only to the Golden Temple and after a Public Uproar, the government has decided to extend it to all the Temples and Religious institutions which serve free food.
