Expert-Committee's-Even-Worse-Deal-for-AmaravatiExpert Committee headed by GN Rao had an even worse deal for the farmers who have given their lands to Amaravati. If Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said Amaravati would be made the Legislative Capital, the committee said only the Rainy Season session should be conducted in Amaravati.

But also recommended a High Court Bench, Government Quarters, and Raj Bhavan in Amaravati. Interestingly, YSR Congress used to oppose Amaravati saying that it is a flood-prone area but the committee wants to use the Velagapudi Assembly for Rainy Season Session.

Vishakapatnam got the Secretariat, High Court Bench, and CM Camp Office. The committee recommended the Summer session of the Assembly in Vishaka. They recommended that the High Court should be in Kurnool and all other related courts in Rayalaseema.

During the interaction with the media, GN Rao was asked what is the capital of Andhra Pradesh but the committee refused to comment. “Deciding Capital is not our job,” they said. The committee also recommended that the farmers who have given their lands to the Capital should be developed. They recommended that the lands should be used for department offices. These recommendations will mean that Amaravati farmers who parted ways with their lands are doomed.
