Exit Polls: BJP's Fate Ends Up On A CliffhangerThe Exit polls are out for the five states (includes one UT) after the completion of eighth phase polling in West Bengal. The pollsters are clear about the result of Kerala and Tamil Nadu. LDF is coming back stronger with the higher majority. It is the only state where the pollsters are confident about a ruling party coming to power.

In Tamil Nadu, AIADMK and BJP combine is set for a rout and all the exit polls indicate a strong arrival of Stalin’s DMK. Most pollsters say BJP will keep up power in Assam but Congress seems to be putting up a decent fight.

NDA is predicted to wrest power in Puducherry from the Congress. In the four elections, BJP is coming to power or sharing power in two but both are them are two small state/UT to celebrate. Kerala and Tamil Nadu, the major states continue to evade BJP.

The mother of all contests is in West Bengal where BJP gave everything to dethrone Mamata Banerjee. A majority of pollsters predict Mamata coming back even though BJP has given a strong fight. But few pollsters give BJP a chance, so they are keeping their fingers crossed.

A victory in West Bengal will make these five states’ elections special for BJP and the losses in Kerala and Tamil Nadu won’t count. A loss in West Bengal will mean BJP had fared badly.
