Why even Supreme can not give respite to JaganWith the defections flow looking unstoppable, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is looking at the courts to save the lone Rajya Sabha seat the party is entitled to get. YSR Congress had decided to approach the Supreme Court to make the defected MLAs ineligible to vote in Rajya Sabha. The party reportedly hired Senior advocate Harish Salve to take up the case.

Recently Supreme court prevented defected Congress MLAs from voting in the floor test in Uttarakhand Assembly. Jagan is hoping that court will do the same with 17 YSR Congress MLAs who recently switched to TDP. However political experts say both of them are different cases. In Uttarakhand issue, the MLAs were disqualified by the Speaker.

In this case, the issue is pending with the Speaker and the courts can not interfere. More over the whip of the parties is not applicable in Rajya Sabha elections. So Supreme Court may not get to stop the MLAs voting in the election. The elections for four vacant seats in Andhra Pradesh will happen in June 11th.
