sania_mirza_KCRHyderabad High Court has once again made stern remarks on Telangana government. The apex court took the issue of government’s apathy towards farmers’ suicides very seriously. The High Court asked government to be pragmatic on farmers and stop extending financial benefits to sports personalities and celebrities and also spending huge amounts on entertainment.

The high court has made these remarks when dealing a PIL filed by a resident of Medak district, seeking to direct the Telangana government and the Centre to grant financial assistance of a minimum of 10 lakh to each of the bereaved family members of the farmers who committed suicide.

The court ordered the government to come up with a comprehensive report on the plight of farmers in the state and government’s steps to help them in the next two weeks. It may be reminded to our readers that several media reports suggest that 500 farmers have committed suicides in Telangana since the new state is formed.
