nelloreA tragedy took place in the Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh. About 70 migrant laborers came from West Bengal to sow paddy in Verubotlapally, Kaluvai Mandal of the district. Ten of them fell ill while working in a field and one of them died.

Three of them were rushed to the Nellore government hospital in critical condition while six others were treated at the Podalakuru government hospital. Locals are fearing some kind of mysterious illness like in Eluru. However, officials say it may be the case of food poisoning and their samples were collected and the reports are awaited.

But there is panic everywhere in the district. On the other side, the Governments and the medical experts are yet to ascertain the reasons behind the mysterious illness in Eluru. Traces of mercury were found in the rice samples collected there which may be also a reason.

People are living in Eluru and going to other places of their relatives in the wake of rumors about contaminated water, rice, and vegetable. There is an acute shortage of packaged drinking water as people resorted to panic buying.
