Aiding the allegations of tampering the electoral rolls in favour of the ruling party, the two teams sent by Election Commission of India found that GHMC officials have not followed the standard procedures in removing votes. It is not clear if settlers votes are targeted and removed, but it is revealed that several votes are removed even with out serving notices.
The teams have visited few houses in Jubilee Hills and Sanathnagar constituencies on Saturday and found that GHMC officials removed the votes with out any verification. In some areas, the votes of people living as long as 30 years were also removed with out any reason. The central teams have noted all the violations and complaints by the locals.
Some of the votes were removed declaring the voters as dead even though they are alive. The central teams refused to talk to the media and will be submitting their findings in a report to the central election commission. Looks like the government is in for a huge criticism now especially ahead of the important GHMC elections.
