Election Commission Raises Fake Hopes in TDP and TRS LeaderThe Election Commission of India recently sent a circular to all states, including TS and AP, asking the Chief Electoral Officers to send details of Assembly constituencies. Details like the number of villages in each constituency, number of towns, the population, and wards in each municipality in each constituency were sought.

In turn, all the district collectors were asked for this data. Political Parties in AP and Telangana especially the ruling parties were excited thinking that the details being sought were for the delimitation process. But then, the state election commission sources say that the ECI issued the circular to all states, not only AP and TS.

The updated data will be used by ECI as and when needed. They confirm that it has nothing to do with the delimitation of Assembly constituencies. Post the bifurcation, the ruling parties in both the states are urging to increase them to nine which will take the MLA seats in AP to 225 (175 now) and in Telangana to 153 (119 now).
