Either way, It Will Be Counterproductive For JaganAndhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had decided to rejig his cabinet with elections two years to go. The expansion will take place on the 11th of this month.

Except for 5-6 of the existing ministers, the remaining 24 ministers will be replaced by new faces. Jagan had announced giving party responsibilities to the outgoing ministers.

They will be made District Development Council Chairmans to retain ‘power’.

Jagan also revealed to the ministers that he is mulling cabinet rank to District Development Council Chairmans. So that they do not lose.

But then such a move may be counterproductive both for the party and the government.

As they say, too many cooks will spoil the broth. The power centers are better rested with the ministers and there should be no deviations.

These seniors can try to override the newcomers and juniors using their experience and connections. But then, there is another problem if they are not given the cabinet rank.

The outgoing ministers have some big names and they are very important to the party. They will become toothless if they do not have power by the time of elections.

So, either way, it is a problem for Jagan. Probably completely overhauling the cabinet with elections just two years to go is such a bad idea.
