Popular cab service, Ola cabs had pressed several boats, called Ola Boats in Chennai for rescuing and evacuating people from drowned areas of the city and surroundings. Ola Boats are equipped with professional rowers and also fishermen to rescue people and to provide food and drinking water free-of-cost.
Further each boat also have sufficient umbrellas. Each boat can ferry between five to nine people in a trip. The cab management announced that they are making this service available for the next three days and will be extended if needed.
Ola management is closely working with the local government department in the evacuation works. They are deploying boats to waterlogged and partially submerged areas on the basis of information from the Fire and Rescue department.
