Andhra Pradesh and Telangana shared the First Place in the Ease of Doing Business Rankings given by Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) along with the World Bank. But then many say both the states have qualified for the ranks with mere policy changes and amending laws just for the sake of higher rankings.

But this year, Center will not let that happen. From this year, Central teams will visit each state to see for themselves whether or not the business reforms being claimed by states are being implemented on the ground level. The teams will also collect inputs from companies, investors, trade bodies, labour organizations to decide the rankings.

Until the last year, The rankings were decided based on the responses submitted by the state governments for the 340 action points prescribed by the department of industrial policy and promotion. It has to be seen if both the Telugu states will still do good work in this new process.
