One year before the elections, every statement made by the leaders will have paramount political significance and so there is no crime in dissecting every word of them. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s recent clarification about Kapu Reservations also deserves such dissection.
After all that analysis of how it may affect the Kapu voting, there are doubts if this is a tactic to help Pawan Kalyan’s Janasena indirectly. If the secret understanding between BJP, YSR Congress, and Janasena is true, Jagan is just helping Pawan Kalyan to consolidate in Godavari districts.
Kapu Community rallied with Telugu Desam Party in the last elections as a result, the party got around 90% of the seats in Two districts. Jagan wants to rout the party from here. Targeting Pawan Kalyan seems to be also in the same direction. Interestingly, Pawan Kalyan is also not appearing to be concentrating on Rayalaseema which might help YSR Congress.
But then, Two Plus Two is not necessarily Four in Politics. These calculations look good on Paper and need not hold good at the ground level. Let us see what is in store in the coming elections. 2019 Elections as of today looks like a Game of Chess.
