Widescale EVMS Malfunctioning reported in several areas of Andhra Pradesh the other day. Polling began late in many Polling Stations. Polling began at 12 PM and 1 PM in some booths. Chief Election Commissioner, Gopalakrishna Dwivedi called for a Press Meet and said TDP is magnifying the issue, only 350+ EVMs malfunctioned and they are rectified.
But the fact is that 4,583 EVMs malfunctioned and interesting such incidents are highest in Guntur and Krishna where TDP is strong. Election Commission had to allow the voters who are in queues by 6 PM (Scheduled Close of Time) to vote until the last voter exercised his right to Vote.
Voters had to go and come back from the Polling Stations on multiple occasions. As many as 726 Polling Stations continued polling after 9 PM. Polling continued in 14 Polling Stations even after 12.30 AM. After the Polling is complete, the EVMs are sealed and were transported to the Strong Rooms.
