Former Deputy Chief Minister and YSR Congress District President Dharmana Krishna Das’s constituency is plagued by sand mafia, alleging the leaders of the same party.
They expressed their displeasure that large-scale illegal collections are going on in Parlam and other sand dunes in the Narasannapeta constituency of the Srikakulam district.
YSR Congress leaders Muddada Balabhupalanaidu, Pagoti Ramana Bharadwaj, and Buddala Rajasekhar told reporters on Monday that some ruling party leaders are involved in extortion and sand mafia.
They allege that the sand ramps are being controlled by the followers of the former Deputy CM.
“People are doubting that Krishna Das is well aware of all this. When we questioned about this and posted about it on social media, we were removed from the party’s Whatsapp groups,” they alleged.
Dharmana Krishna Das was the deputy Chief Minister till recently.
He got replaced by his brother Dharmana Prasada Rao in Jagan Mohan Reddy’s cabinet after the recent cabinet shuffle.
