Despite Slowdown, Kia Andhra Plant to Increase ProductionDespite the economic slowdown in the country, Kia Motors Andhra Pradesh Plant is all set to increase its capacity by commencing the second shift. The company is adding 1,000 more employees to boost production. This is after the super success of its recent launch, Seltos in the mid-size SUVs segment.

Seltos is already in the Top-3 of the segment. This second shift will mean that the capacity of the plant will go up to 15000 units per month. The company may even add a third shift in a couple of months which will take the annual capacity to 4 Lakh Units per year from the current 3 Lakh Units.

The decision will be taken depending on the demand. “Thank God that Kia has started production even before YSR Congress came to Power. If it is half-complete like Amaravati or Polavaram, they would have halted this project as well,” TDP ridicules the Government.

It is known to our readers that Kia Motors set up the first plant in India in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh during Chandrababu Naidu’s regime. It is the biggest FDI in Andhra Pradesh after the Bifurcation and is one of the biggest FDIs in the country in recent years.
