Few days ago, Venkaiah Naidu said he do not like to get nominated from allies and will only be nominated to Rajya Sabha from BJP. However, looks like Venkaiah has no option but to seek the help of TDP now. Venkaiah Naidu, Vijay Mallya, Oscar Fernandez, Maayanoor Manjunadh are representing Karnataka in the upper house.
Their term is expiring on June 30th. With the current strengths in Karnataka Assembly, Congress is entitled to get two of the three and one to BJP. There would be tough competition for the last seat. Recently appointed State BJP President, Yedyurappa is keen on renominating his close-aide Maayanoor Manjunadh form the seat BJP will win easily.
Venkaiah can not be risked in the close contest seat. So, there may not be any option but to nominate him from AP in TDP quota seats. Four Rajya Sabha seats in AP will fall vacant by May. Three will go to TDP and other to YSR Congress. The fourth seat may also go in TDP’s way as many MLAs of YSRCP are lining up to the ruling party. One of the seats may be allotted to BJP.
